Your only real blocker from using iSunshare Windows Password Genius may be that you must have another computer to format your USB flash drive or CD. Assuming you’ve got a backup laptop, old spare device, or a willing friend, it shouldn’t be too much of a problem.

After installing iSunshare Windows Password Genius on the secondary device, you will need a ready USB flash drive or a blank burnable CD / DVD. Note: If you are using a USB flash drive, you already have valuable information on it, then you want to backup that data. The formatting process will remove anything on the drive as soon as the process starts.

Formatting your storage device to boot will delete all the data on it

After installing iSunshare Windows Password Genius on your secondary computer, run the program as you would. A menu will prompt you to decide if you are going to use a USB device or CD / DVD. Since we are using CD and DVD sparingly these days, we believe that most of our users are going to use USB flash drives for this process.

Even if you are using such ancient technology as data on disk, the process is essentially the same. Choose the option you are going to use, then select the drive where it is located after the click where the burn starts.

You will see a notification that confirms that you want to format the storage device to use as a boot disk. This is your last chance to remove any valuable data from the storage device before it is permanently lost. Click OK to continue.

The burning process did not take long. For us, it was literally a matter of seconds.

Step 2: Boot the locked computer from the reset disk

Now all you want to do is return to the computer that needs its password reset. Insert the storage device you have formatted to boot and turn on the computer.

While your device is booting, repeatedly press the boot option key to access the boot options menu. The boot option key will vary depending on your computer. For example, for HP laptops, the boot option key is F9 or Esc. However for Acer, Lenovo ThinkPad, Samsung and Toshiba, the boot option key is always F12. Some quick Google Fu should tell which key you need to access the appropriate menu.

Once you are in the menu that allows you to select your boot device, choose the USB or CD password reset disk you want to boot.

Step 3: Reset Windows Password

You’re almost at the finish line, and you’ve already started a few minutes. If you voted correctly from an iSunshare formatted device, you will access an interface, which will allow you to choose the version of Windows currently installed on your computer. You will also see a list of users.

The method here is very self-explanatory. Select your version of Windows, then select the user whose password you want to reset, then click the button labeled “Reset Password”.

A dialog will pop up asking if you are sure that you would like to reset the chosen password to “blank”. Click Yes to continue. You will be able to see that the password column, previously marked “unknown”, will be able to be viewed. Will now say “blank”

Finally, click on the reboot button. A notification will tell you that it is now safe to take out the password recovery disk. Remove the USB flash drive or CD / DVD, then click Yes to reboot your computer with a fresh reset password.

It’s really there! If you follow these simple instructions, you will arrive at the desktop with all your valuable files and data. No reason to take your computer to a shop, no fear of damage from a factory reset, try racking your brain or going through old notes to make your old password as unheard as possible.

iSunshare Windows Password Genius is a very affordable software suite, which has met all our expectations at the time of Windows password recovery. After trying it out on many devices, we found that we can get a fresh boot from a password locked computer, usually between 5 and 15 minutes.
