Let’s face it, we all have a love / hate relationship with social media: sometimes we love it and sometimes we really, really hate it.
According to digital time management tool Rescue Time, people spend about three hours and 15 minutes per day on their phones. And the top 20 percent of smartphone users spend more than four and a half hours staring at their devices.
Apps like Instagram and Twitter are the worst culprits to pull you back because of the infinite scroll.
How to delete instagram: first step
First of all, you need to decide what you want to do with the account: deactivate it for some time or you need to remove it altogether?
If someone is bothering you in particular, you can always block your posts as an FYI, personal and specific accounts.
How to disable Instagram temporarily
If you’re deactivating your account for a set period of time, it’s really simple with the idea that you’ll be back.
On Instagram, log in from a mobile browser or computer because you cannot do it from the app.
Tap or click on the person icon to go to your profile and hit edit profile.
To temporarily disable my account, scroll to Settings, which should be in the bottom right.
This takes you to another page, where you can choose why you are disabling your account and you will have to re-enter your password and then you are done.
Remember, all your photos, comments and likes will be hidden until you reactivate the account. And, you can deactivate your account only once a week, so try not to get used to it.
How to delete instagram permanently
You have decided to go the whole hog and completely remove yourself from Instagram. First of all, you cannot do this only through the app on your browser.
You need to go to the delete your account page on instagram help center, where you will be asked to log in.
You can then select a reason why you want to leave the platform, and re-enter your password to remove yourself from Instagram. You need to choose a reason from the menu otherwise Instagram did not let you go.
And that’s it, you’ve gone from Instagram.
What are you going to do with all the free time you would have otherwise spent scrolling through social media? Hopefully, this should at least improve your sleeping habits.
